Great book!Dr. Michael Beitler
Author of "Strategic Organizational Change"

A Must-Read for any La Jollan, and more

cheap and good

a wealth of authentic Therese: milieu, maturing, and missionThe letters written to Therese deepen the reader's knowledge of her milieu and the persons who surrounded her in the Lisieux Carmel. The notes are a marvel of depth and precision, enabling the reader to see Therese's words in the context of her real life. An index to both volumes of Therese's letters is a great enhancement. I cannot recommend the book highly enough.

How a jury member recreates the trauma of the trial!

Very interesting book

A comprehensive, brief and clear survey of modern science. The Limitations of Science - J.W.N.Sullivan
Written over six decades ago, when modern physics was still in its nascent state, this book gives the best ever survey of the developments in science, which both fascinates and enthralls the mind of an intelligent layman, and, can truly be considered a classic piece.
Opening with a discourse on Science and its nature, and leading upto various disciplines therein, the author captures the reader's attention and holds it ransom till the end, with the reader becoming a willing hostage, eager to be enamoured by the interconnections and examples drawn from everyday experiences. Tracing the history of how science came about as a separate study from philosophy, the author spans such a broad spectrum as our expanding Universe to the subatomic structure of Matter, Relativity and Riemann geometry, Theory of Origin of Species and Natural Selection, Evolution of Intelligence and Behaviourism, and ends with an optimistic note towards a Unified Science that can explain the nature of mind, life, and matter as known in their present form.
Citing various examples to support his arguments and lead the reader towards established conclusions, the author quotes from such distinguished savants as Plato, Lavoisier, Newton, Darwin, Bragg, Minkowski, Freud, Pavlov and Huxley, among others, whose incredible contributions have made understanding of our Universe as engaging, complex and gratifying as we find it today. For all you non-scientists out there who feel like an outsider, denied membership to the Secret Society of High-Brows, this book will fill you with comprehensive information without insignificant details that bog you down; and as for those scientists out there who feel smug and confident about their knowledge, the scope and power of this book, and the author's clear, crisp presentation will give you a fresh perspective and leave you feeling like a new-born soaking up fresh experiences each minute.
